Melina Herrmann

Brazilian born Melina Herrmann has a heritage steeped in coffee with her grandfather owning and running a coffee roastery in Brazil in the 1930s, a family affair with both her father and uncle involved. Her own personal coffee journey started back in 2005 when she moved to London right at the start of the renaissance of coffee culture in the UK after the doldrums of the 1970s/80s. Here, as a student, she could be found amassing invaluable experience working at the many coffee shops springing up all over London. This was the cradle of her coffee and commercial ambition which would go on to blossom into the fully fledged social entrepreneur of today. Here, she would learn the importance of customer service, how to engender customer loyalty and the vital role a well-run motivated team played in delivering an elevated coffee experience.

The Cosy Coffee Corner

In 2014 the culmination of all Melina’s experience and ‘savoir-faire’ came together with the founding of her very own coffee enterprise ‘ The Cosy Coffee Corner’, situated in the heart of the historic City of London at the site of St Mary Woolnoth Church at Bank, one of the City’s treasured community spaces. Here, city workers could seek refuge from the daily grind to enjoy a daily dose of ethically sourced Brazilian coffee beans expertly transformed by Melina or one of her baristas into a delicious pick-me-up. The Cosy Coffee Corner was more than just a coffee shop. Melina worked hard to ensure her brand was ethical and sustainable in all areas. She created a welcoming haven for the city worker where she and her team knew their clients by name. This combination of a quality product, sustainably sourced and a strong community feel ensured enduring loyalty to The Cosy Coffee Corner which, given the plethora of high street competitors, is a huge endorsement of Melina’s social and business acumen.

Elevating Coffee Ventures

After 10 wonderful years running The Cosy Coffee Corner, Melina is keen to share with others how they may also create that magical mix of commerce, coffee and community, how they might transform their church or their public space to bring in sound business practices with a human face. With her new consultancy business ECV Solutions, “Elevating Coffee Ventures” becomes Melina’s new mission in the coffee industry: to elevate each single venture she collaborates with to its next level and beyond, transforming coffee and hospitality enterprises into landmarks that resonate with the local community.
